S/V Lady Africa is a St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands based 1991 Dean 365 Ocean Liner Catamaran For Sale By Owner. This catamaran owner requires financial settlement only. No trades.
S/V Lady Africa is a completely rebuilt Dean 365 Catamaran, relaunched in 2020, for sale by owner. Four cabins, one head with separate shower. Spacious galley. ALL Practically NEW!
Lady Africa is a very capable sailboat. She crossed the Atlantic Ocean from South Africa to the Caribbean in 2021. Boat runs 220v/12v and is 100% off grid. We and previous owners have never needed to plug into shore power since launch, use a generator, or run the engines to generate power. Lady Africa is ready for immediate handover to new owners.
This is a great vacation or full live-aboard island home that includes a good old island Jeep (Liberty) and transferable mooring if desired, in the only designated “Hurricane Hole” marina in St. Thomas. It is off grid and hardly ever needs to be at a dock. This allows very much freedom while saving a ton of fees. Previous owners hosted “Sailing Lady Africa” YouTube channel showing their 3-year rebuilding of Lady Africa and sailing adventures from South Africa to the Caribbean. Check it out!
Dean Catamarans is a shipyard in South Africa owned and managed by the father and son Peter Dean Sr. and Peter Dean Jr. The valuable experience of the Dean father and son was gained in the seas of South Africa where wind speeds can vary from 10 knots to 60 knots within minutes and the sea state from glassy to wave heights of up to 17 meters recorded. Accordingly Dean Catamarans place a healthy emphasis on safety and seaworthiness for any yacht they design and build. Dean catamarans rather build yachts for private owners who wish to pursue their dreams of ocean cruising in safety and security.
In the pursuit of extreme seaworthiness, all Dean Catamarans feature very buoyant full bows with the bridge deck carried well forward. They feature asymmetrical hulls, where the outside curvature is much greater than the inner hull curvature, resulting in a reduced wave forming action between the hulls (reduced venturi effect). This, coupled with a high bridge deck clearance, dramatically reduces under bridge deck slamming while also improving overall performance.
This Dean 365 Catamaran offers a lot of space, catamaran style comfort / stability, and the main mast position facilitates ease of sail handling. She has a huge airy saloon with panoramic view from all seating positions. The Dean 365 features four cabins with masses of cupboards and storage space. Spacious stern area and forward deck for sunbathing.
The cockpit and salon are on almost the same level, making entry and exit from the interior very easy. The roomy salon takes up the upper level of the interior of the boat. It has panoramic windows and portlights which make it light and airy and give good visibility from below. A fold-down table in the salon, allows for a large entertainment or work area.
To port you step down to the galley which has counters on both sides, a large refrigerator, microwave, oven and pressurized water as well as seawater pump. There is a plentiful storage below the counters. And it is open to the salon, the cook is not cut off from the guests. In the starboard hull is the spacious freezer and washing machine at the base of the steps and the head forward of it. The head has a stand up shower as well as new Jabsco china head and stainless steel basin.
The sleeping accommodation is found in two large queen cabins forward and two smaller dbl cabins aft. All cabins are very comfortable and have cupboards, counters and lots of storage space.
This is a lot of boat package for a most reasonable price and would be an excellent catamaran for a couple or family to enjoy as an island home with Jeep, for day trips to the numerous islands nearby or exploring the vast Caribbean and beyond.
